NEUROSPACE TACHELES
Satellite for the Analysis of Radiation Effects and System Qualification
Since 2022, Johannes Rojahn has been involved with the company NEUROSPACE with increasing responsibility. NEUROSPACE is a New Space deep-tech startup focused on the development of space robotics. In addition to strategic and operational roles, he serves as VP Design and Structures, responsible for the mechanical and structural development of the systems.
Currently, NEUROSPACE is the only selected European company to carry its own satellite on NASA’s Artemis II mission—the first crewed lunar mission since the Apollo program approximately 50 years ago.
TACHELES is a 12U satellite that will carry key electronic components of the HiveR rover system. During the flight, these components will be exposed to extreme conditions to study their behavior. A central mission objective is to investigate how natural radiation conditions in the so-called Van Allen Belt affect electronic components. The data obtained will help improve radiation protection for electronics.
As a crewed lunar mission, Artemis II imposes the highest requirements on all systems and on the design of the TACHELES satellite.
TACHELES was handed over for integration at the Kennedy Space Center at the end of 2025. The development of TACHELES was funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
